<p>Individuals interested in taking our 12 week Tractor Trailer Internship program must attend a pre-screening session before their registration can be complete.</p>
<p>The pre-screening session consists mainly of three parts:</p>
<ul>
<li>Psychophysical Testing &#8211; This consists of a basic eye test, peripheral vision, depth perception, and reaction time.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Interview &#8211; We want to get to know our future students. It is important that we know what the goals of our students are. This is also a great opportunity to ask us any questions you may have about the program.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>TOWES testing -  The TOWES test is Test of Workplace Essential Skills. This test is administered by the Trucking Human Resource Sector Council and evaluates numeracy, reading text and document use. Students are required to write the TOWES test prior to acceptance into the Tractor Trailer Internship Program. There is a $115.00 fee to write the TOWES test.</li>
</ul>
<p>All pre-screening sessions are held at our campus in Masstown, Nova Scotia. We ask that participants arrive by 9:00 am.</p>

<p><strong>How long is this program?</strong> Our Motor Coach (Class 2) program is four (4) weeks in length.</p>
<p><strong>What will I learn?</strong> Throughout the course students learn a number of essential operating skills. Our curriculum covers topics such as: Pre-operating Inspections, Air Brakes, Maneuvering Skills, On-road Driving Skills, Customer Service, and Emergency Evacuation Procedures</p>
<p><strong>How many students will be in my class?</strong> Our maximum class ratio is four (4) students to one (1) instructor.</p>
<p><strong>Why do I have to be 25 to take this program?</strong> The age restriction of 25 years and above is a standard that was determined through consultation with representatives of the motor coach transportation industry.</p>
<p><strong>What makes the CSC Motor Coach (Class 2) program different?</strong> At Commercial Safety College we take pride in providing the highest quality of training. Our program has met the accreditation standards for “Blocks A, B, C, D, E” of Core Competencies of the National Occupational Standards as administered by the <strong>Motor Carrier Passenger Council of Canada</strong>. Currently, we are the only training institution in Atlantic Canada with this accreditation.</p>
<p><strong>What will I receive upon successful completion?</strong> Successful graduates of our <strong>Motor Coach (Class 2)</strong> program receive the required documentation for a <strong>Class 2 license</strong>. Our school is a registered private career college with the Department of Labour and Advanced Education, and is approved to offer this certification.</p>

<p>Our program is unique in that we offer our heavy equipment training in modules instead of a generalized earth moving course. Each module is a different piece of equipment, and each module leads to certification on that particular piece of equipment. Students are under no obligation to take all four pieces. Our program allows students to get the training that accomplishes their personal goals.</p>

<p>Excavator &#8211; 4 weeks, Dozer &#8211; 3 weeks, Backhoe &#8211; 3 weeks, Loader &#8211; 2 weeks</p>

<p><strong>How long is this program? </strong>  Our Straight Truck (Class 3) driver training program is three (3) weeks in length.</p>
<p><strong>What will I learn?</strong>   Throughout our program, students learn the essential skills for operating safely on the road. Our three (3) week program is a well balanced mix of on-road driving, maneuvering skills, pre-trip inspections, air brakes, and professional driver education.</p>
<p><strong>How many students will be in a class?</strong>   At Commercial Safety College, we believe in keeping class sizes small. To maximize the amount of personalized instruction time, we have set a ratio of three (3) students to one (1) instructor for this program.</p>
<p><strong>Is this program &#8220;industry-approved&#8221;?</strong>   Commercial Safety College prides itself on the positive relationship we have with the transportation industry. We have an on-going relationship with many of the companies that hire our graduates. In addition, our program has been fully approved by the Private Career Colleges division of the both the Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island governments.</p>
<p><strong>What will I recieve upon completion of this course? </strong>  As a signing authority for the NS government, we are able to road test our students. When a student successfully completes our program they have the documentation required for a Class 3 license. In addition, students receive certification for their air brakes course. </p>
