Program Profile: Loader Operator

How long is this program?   Our Loader Operator training program is two (2) weeks in length.

Where is this program offered?   This program is offered at our main campus in Masstown.

When does this program start?   We have programs starting throughout the year.

What is the training environment like?   We train in an active aggregate production facility, which gives our students a realistic approach to heavy equipment operation. Our training site is approximately 10 minutes from our campus location in Masstown.

What will I learn?   Throughout our program, students learn the essential skills for safe and productive Loader operation. Topics covered in this training include:

  • Bucket Operating Procedures
  • Maneuvering Skills
  • Ramping and Stockpiling Materials Using the Tier Method
  • Truck Loading
  • Loading Hoppers & Screeners
  • Traveling with Loads
  • Cleaning Up & Leveling Work Areas

How many students will be in a class?   At Commercial Safety College, we believe in keeping class sizes small. To maximize the amount of personalized instruction time, we have set a ratio of nine (9) students to one (1) instructor for this program.

Is this program “industry-approved”?   Commercial Safety College prides itself on the positive relationship we have with the construction industry. We have an on-going relationship with many companies that hire our graduates. We train to the entry level standards of major companies throughout Canada. In addition, our program has been fully approved by the Private Career Colleges division of the both the Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island governments.

What are potential career paths with this training?   Loader Operator training can lead to a career in construction (road building, new developments, etc.), work within municipal and provincial public works departments, work in the aggregate production sector, Western Canada Oil Field opportunities, and much more.

What will I receive upon completion of this course?   Upon successful completion of the program, students are given Entry Level Operator certification stating the number of hours completed (80 hours) and lists all course content completed.
